Dr. Maria J. Mendez is an assistant professor in the management department of California State University, Chico. Dr. Mendez's research centers on shared leadership, although she has also published in the areas of followership, global leadership, ethics, and management education. Her publications can be found in Business Ethics Quarterly, Journal of World Business, Learning and Organization Development Journal, Organization Management Journal, and the book The Art of Followership. She received a PhD in business administration from New Mexico State University and a six-year degree in industrial engineering from the Universidade de Vigo, Spain.
