April Howell earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in business administration from CSU, Chico. She began her teaching career at Butte College in 1998. In 2002, she accepted a tenured position at Shasta College and eventually transitioned to Chico State in 2015. She has been teaching writing for more than two decades, and business communication is her specialty as well as her passion. She and her husband own a physical therapy outpatient clinic and gym along with an Airbnb, and she loves to discuss real-world business examples in class. She enjoys interacting with her students and working with them to find their dream jobs.
April is the advisor for the Association for Women in Business club on campus (AWIB). The club focus is to empower women and provide them with opportunities for professional networking, growth, and education. In addition, April is the course coordinator for BCOM 300W.
When she is not teaching, April enjoys spending time at her family cabin in Lake Almanor with her husband and children. She also enjoys cross-fit, hiking, kayaking, biking, reading, and being with family and friends.
